Oh my. I have been away from your blog for a week or so and caught up tonight. Cattle, blood draws, school acceptance, adoption highs-lows-highs, beans/nuts. Oh my.

Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us. Your experiences must be challenging for you but I also feel challenged by them and thus the thank you. I feel challenged to think beyond my sphere, to be in prayer for people I don’t know, and to love extravagantly with the love that God has shown me. Maybe not by working in Uganda for 6 months but we all have something we can do right where we are, right?

By the way, I’m definitely thinking that when you get back, you should challenge the other University Church elders to a cattle loading/unloading contest.

You are brave in so many ways, including sharing this story! Will add prayers for “cooking” to the ones we are saying for you.

Spent time tonight catching up on your blog. Amazed at what you are all doing and experiencing. Wondering how the ways in which you are being changed will continue to change you after your return in late July. Wondering what things may come of the lives you touch there and the lives you touch here.

And as amazed as I am, I also think, “well, why wouldn’t God be doing amazing things. Of course he is. He is God and he is amazing.”

Miss you guys. Always seem to look for you in your “pew” on Sundays.

Thanks for writing. Praying about your 5 day trip, and all other experiences.

I read yesterday or today about how God blesses his faithful workers for all their hard work and that none of what is done by them is wasted (Kari’s paraphrase of Eugene Peterson’s Message translation). So what you are doing in Uganda may or may not be “huge and important” (your words), but as your blog title references, it matters to “that one.”

Jessica, You are an amazing young woman. I think this experience is one that is going to teach you lessons that very few young women your age have the opportunity to learn. I like the fact that you are not only relying on the Lord, but you are relying on your friends, the Gregston’s. And your Mother and Father are happy for you to have this five day trip away from them even at the beginning of your time in Uganda. They are trusting you and the lab with blood which is certainly a dangerous matter when testing for HIV. No one would handle it more carefully and our Care Group will be in prayer for this work. Thanks, again, Jim for sharing these experiences. I was talking with Cory (my youngest son) today and telling his wife Lori that she MUST get on and read of your work. I had my two little dogs with me and we spent the afternoon with them. Most of the time, his house can be like Grand Central Station. L/U and be safe and GOD BLESS!

Jessica, You have two pretty good fellas helping you in the lab. It sounds like you are becoming an amazing team. I’ve known them both for quite a while and ummmm…I don’t know if I would trust them withing 20 ft. of me with a NEEDLE!!! lol!!
